Mike Simek is a Detroit native and a graduate of the University of Michigan, where he studied economics. After graduation, he was commissioned as an officer in the United States Marine Corps, serving for 25 years on both active duty and in the reserves before retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel in 2021.
Mike has spent the majority of his professional career in defense acquisitions, working on both the government side and as a defense contractor. In March 2023, he launched UNITS Moving and Portable Storage of Indianapolis, a veteran-owned business providing superior storage solutions throughout Central Indiana.
In addition to leading UNITS, Mike is a business consultant who specializes in helping small businesses navigate opportunities within the Department of Defense.
He is married to Jamie and is the proud father of two children—Kate, a student at Purdue University, and Tyler, who attends Plainfield High School.
